A female dog travels four hundred miles in search of her owner throughout a Colorado wilderness. Bella and Big Kitten are pursued by wolves, Bella is separated from Big Kitten; Bella is later pursued and hurt by wolves again . Bella ends up attached to homeless veteran who chains her to him and then dies. It's particularly upsetting because Bella describes keeping him warm until there's "no more" him; she's chained to dead body. Bella is struck by car, looks like she has a leg injury. Like Bella, Gonker, a rambunctious golden retriever mix, decided to take his own path while hiking with his owner on the Appalachian Trail near the Blue Ridge Parkway in 1998.

I never saw any of the things these other reviews point out. I went home and hugged my two American Staffordshire Terriers very tight. My 9 year old son couldn't make it past the first 1/3 of the movie he was crying so badly.

The rest of the story is about Bella’s dangerous trip across New Mexico back to Denver. The journey covers over 600 kilometres and takes more than two years. Along the way, Bella is attacked by wolves, befriends an orphaned cougar, is kept chained up by a homeless man and is hit by a car. Bella shows great courage, which is rewarded in the end. Unfortunately for Bella, Chuck is determined to catch her and lock her up. He has decided she’s a dangerous pit bull terrier and should be destroyed.

But she quickly warmed up and showed real personality. The clip discusses how the real-life dog who portrayed Bella was rescued before the film was shot, adding another inspiring and uplifting tale to the film's production. Like Homeward Bound and A Dog's Purpose, the new dog-narrated movie will probably be an emotional experience for you, especially if you're an animal lover. If you're concerned about whether or not your heart can take it, you might want to check out A Dog's Purpose before seeing A Dog's Way Home. Cameron's tale of dog reincarnation might give you a new sense of hope in how a dog's love endures over time. Bruce Cameron's stories told from a dog's point of view.
A Lot or a Little?
Howard does a fine job voicing the incredibly loving, determined, and long-suffering Bella, who wants nothing more than to play with Lucas and comfort "Mom" and her veteran friends. Bella's relationship with the doting Lucas (Hauer-King is sweetly charming) is as cute as you'd expect, especially the twee way he offers her a "tiny piece of cheese" every night before bed. Vengeful, Günter notifies animal control that Bella is a pitbull , because, in Denver, Pitbulls are illegal, due to being a dangerous breed. That evening, an overzealous animal control officer named Chuck comes by to warn Lucas that if he finds Bella on the street, he will impound her.

We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. Values in this movie that you could reinforce with your children include courage, perseverance, heroism, and care and concern for others. It looks like Bella won’t survive but ‘big kitten’, who is now an adult cougar, arrives in time and frightens the wolves away.

Gonker required monthly injections of synthetic hormones to stay alive. When I listened to the book, I was unaware that it relates the events of a true story. Such an excellent story line explaining about the dog, training dogs, and making the movie “ A Dog’s Purpose” all through the eyes of the dog. Some humor, helped with some great detailed information.

Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Since I had seen other movies by Cameron, I pretty much knew what to expect from this movie and was happy with the experience. Here is everything you need to know about the film adaptation of A Dog’s Way Home, starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Ashley Judd. Bruce Cameron, who also wrote the previously published the book A Dog's Purpose, which came out in 2010. As you might remember, that 2010 book also became a movie, called A Dog's Purpose. The 2017 film starred Josh Gad as the voice of one dog who gets reincarnated over the course of many generations. The dog in A Dog's Way Home is a different one, named Bella, and Howard voices the narrator as she embarks — no pun intended — on a long and treacherous journey home. I was probably 8 years old, playing in the back yard of our house in Prairie Village, KS, when my dad opened the gate and in rushed a 9-week-old Labrador puppy. I fell to my knees and spread my arms and that dog leaped into them as if we had loved each other our whole lives.

But Buhler never thought the darling dog would go onto movie stardom. After briefly reuniting with Mother Cat, Bella reaches the city's VA hospital, where she joyfully reunites with Lucas, Terri, and Olivia. Chuck claims that he needs to confiscate Bella again, with the threat to have Lucas and anyone who interferes arrested otherwise. Captain Mica allows Lucas to keep Bella as he has no jurisdiction. Fortunately, A Dog's Way Home isn't so much about a dog leaving its family for good, because Bella does whatever she can to get back to her owner, Lucas.
